DESCRIPTION:The Garrett County Celtic Festival and Highland Games celebrates Celtic influence in Appalachia through all-day music\, dance\, art\, and education at a beautiful riverside park in Friendsville MD.\n\n \n\nFeatured performers include local favorite Aurora Celtic\, Clann Redmond family group from York PA\, and\, returning by popular demand\, internationally acclaimed Se n Heely Celtic Band from Washington DC. Teelin School of Irish Dance from Columbia MD and West Virginia Highland Dancers from Elkins WV are also highlighted among many other performers across multiple stages.\n\n \n\nHighland games organized by Mid-Atlantic Scottish Athletics take place on the village green\, with a noontime pause for a parade\, showcasing local host band Garrett Highlands Pipes & Drums.\n\n \n\nVisitors experience Celtic culture hands-on through interactive workshops from wheat weaving and jewelry making\, to waulking and Irish dance\, and even Asturian scything demonstrations.\n\nWee bairns have their own area to explore at the Rainbow's End\, with imaginative play\, crafts\, and a diminutive version of the highland games. Children 12 and under have free entrance to the whole festival and teens are discounted.\n\n \n\nFriendsville is located off of Interstate 68\, convenient for visitors from Pittsburgh\, Baltimore\, and Washington DC\, with Deep Creek Lake resort area only 15 minutes away for a full weekend of family fun. All activities and free parking are included in admission.
